So I might splurge a little this winter and try to build it up:
I may challenge myself to get in a good biking habit over the next month and then take the leap. I’ve wanted a bike like this for a long time, disc brakes, semi aero, good tire clearance and of course; beautiful. I’d move over what I could from my other bike, which would be minimal considering this things calls for specialized wheels, brakes, and probably crank. As they say around here: “Uff da.”

It is indeed; I’ve got a pretty traditional Shimano 86x24 crank so I’ll have to see how far the adapters have come...

As they say near the factory in Canada... actually no bike they have made is worth getting banned for. Good luck with that.
Seriously though, as long as you are enjoying yourself I could care less what brand or type of bike it occurs on. I can appreciate other’s without condemnation.
Spend the money on good wheels, then buy decent tires from a European webstore where they cost half as much. Everything else really just needs to be serviceable and selected to fit you the best. Avoid marketing hype and unpaid brand evangelists. The used market is your friend.

I haven’t been as into bikes lately; I know Vroomen has been involved in other brands. But to answer your question; yes, still making bikes.

I just want a Swiss army bike; and this is as close as I’ve found for my money. My current bike is an old alloy soloist. Held up very well.
The frame would be new but heavily discounted.

N ot going to ask how much before saying you could probably do better in the near and not so near term.
The field right now is you either find something newer that is exactly what you want or buy it from the last time it was done well. Very good chance the last means 80's steel.
2020 Brovet bike - $2K frame only
1985 TREK 500 - $75 and you can ride away

One of the big shops near here sells a lot of them, so I end up seeing them a bunch out riding and on Craigslist.

I have 3 bikes and am putting together a 4th. Allez disc would be my choice for disc. Tarmac, venge, and propel all just have something off. The disc bike I’m working on though is a titanium newsboy modified to accept disc brakes though.

And I’m sure it loves you right back.

We get along well. I was so enamored with the way it felt underneath me I leaned that direction when it was time to source a bike for my wife as well. Ended up with a Campy equipped Soma DoubleCross for her, which I got for a song. Lady owned, with full fenders and a comfortable saddle even. Think I paid something like $600 Canadian.
New bike pricing is absurd to me.

GL bikes are still a real bright spot for consumers and a sore spot for anyone with inside knowledge of the business side. I blame the manufacture of half carbon abominations wholly to the latter.

Disposal plastic and planned obsolescence, hallmarks of modern manufacturing. Just add hype and watch the money flow.
